Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-15798 is a stored XSS vulnerability in the Smart Slider 3 WordPress plugin caused by insufficient input sanitization and output escaping of the 'slider' block attribute. This allows authenticated attackers with contributor or higher privileges to inject arbitrary scripts that execute in the context of users opening the affected post in the block editor. The vulnerability affects all versions up to and including 3.5.1.38.

Potential Impact

The vulnerability enables authenticated users with contributor-level access or above to inject malicious scripts that execute in the WordPress block editor when an affected post is opened. This can lead to unauthorized actions performed by editors or administrators, potentially compromising site integrity or user data confidentiality. There is no indication of impact on availability.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until a fix is available, restrict contributor-level access and above to trusted users only to reduce risk. Monitor for updates from the vendor regarding patches or official mitigations.
