Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-16276 is a missing authorization vulnerability (CWE-862) in the Classified Listing WordPress plugin prior to version 5.4.4. The plugin does not verify user capabilities on an AJAX endpoint that returns aggregated store revenue totals. As a result, users with contributor-level permissions or higher can access sensitive financial data normally limited to higher privileged roles such as administrators and report managers.

Potential Impact

Unauthorized disclosure of sensitive financial information occurs, allowing lower-privileged users to access daily revenue figures. This could lead to information leakage impacting business confidentiality. There is no indication of further privilege escalation or code execution from the provided data.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until an official fix is available, restrict contributor-level access or higher to trusted users only. Monitor for updates from the plugin vendor regarding a security patch addressing this missing authorization issue.
