Technical Analysis

This vulnerability (CVE-2026-16465) involves an out-of-bounds read (CWE-125) in Autodesk AutoCAD when processing maliciously crafted DWG or DXF files. Successful exploitation may lead to a crash of the application or disclosure of sensitive information. The vulnerability requires local access with low privileges and user interaction to trigger. The CVSS vector indicates low attack complexity and no privileges required, but user interaction is necessary. The affected version explicitly identified is 2027.0.0. No vendor advisory or patch information is currently available, and no known exploits have been reported.

Potential Impact

An attacker who convinces a user to open a malicious DWG or DXF file in AutoCAD 2027.0.0 can cause the application to crash (denial of service) or potentially leak sensitive information from memory. The impact on confidentiality is limited but present, while integrity is not affected. Availability impact is high due to potential crashes.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until an official fix is released, users should exercise caution when opening DWG or DXF files from untrusted sources and consider restricting access to such files.
