Technical Analysis

This vulnerability in jsforce versions 3.10.0 through 3.10.16 involves the _execCommand function in the SFDX Connection Registry's lib/registry/sfdx.js file. Improper input handling leads to OS command injection, enabling local attackers to execute arbitrary commands on the host system. The attack requires local access and does not involve user interaction. Although the issue was reported early, no official remediation or patch has been released as of the publication date. The CVSS 4.0 base score is 4.8, indicating medium severity.

Potential Impact

An attacker with local access to a system running a vulnerable version of jsforce can exploit this vulnerability to execute arbitrary operating system commands. This could lead to unauthorized actions on the host system, potentially compromising system integrity or confidentiality. Remote exploitation is not possible according to the available data.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Since no official fix or remediation level is provided and the project has not responded, users should restrict local access to trusted users only and monitor for any updates from the jsforce maintainers. Avoid running vulnerable versions in environments where untrusted local users have access.
