Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-16538 describes an improper access control vulnerability (CWE-284) in the Wallet for WooCommerce plugin for WordPress. Versions prior to 1.6.10 fail to verify the amount actually collected during wallet top-up transactions before crediting the user's wallet balance. This allows an attacker to manipulate the top-up process and credit their wallet with more funds than they paid for.

Potential Impact

Attackers can exploit this vulnerability to fraudulently increase their wallet balance by paying less than the credited amount. This can lead to financial loss for merchants using the plugin as customers gain unauthorized credit.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Users should monitor the vendor's official channels for updates and apply any released patches promptly once available.
