Technical Analysis

This vulnerability in oclif up to version 4.23.16 allows local attackers to perform OS command injection via manipulation of the jitPlugins argument passed to the child_process.exec function in the JIT Plugin Entry Handler. This could lead to execution of arbitrary commands on the host system. The vulnerability is confirmed public and a patch commit is available, though no official vendor advisory or patch release details are provided in the input data.

Potential Impact

An attacker with local access and low privileges can exploit this vulnerability to execute arbitrary OS commands, potentially leading to unauthorized actions on the affected system. The CVSS 4.8 (medium) reflects limited attack vector (local) and required privileges, but the impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability is low to limited.

Mitigation Recommendations

A patch identified by commit 939b045725e065baebc4587b8bccfd56731eed3d is available and should be applied to affected versions. Since no official vendor advisory or remediation level is provided, users should monitor the vendor's channels for an official fix release. Until patched, restrict local access to trusted users only.
