Technical Analysis

This vulnerability affects nanocoai NanoClaw versions 2.0.0 through 2.0.64. It is caused by improper authorization in the createChatSdkBridge.setup function located in src/channels/chat-sdk-bridge.ts of the MCP Server Approval component. Exploitation requires local access and can lead to unauthorized actions due to insufficient authorization checks. The issue was reported early to the project, but no official fix or remediation has been released as of the publication date. The CVSS 4.0 base score is 4.8, indicating medium severity with local attack vector, low attack complexity, and low privileges required.

Potential Impact

Successful exploitation allows an attacker with local access and low privileges to perform unauthorized actions within the affected component due to improper authorization. This can lead to limited compromise of the system's integrity or functionality. The vulnerability does not require user interaction and has low complexity, but the impact is limited by the need for local access and low scope impact.

Mitigation Recommendations

No official patch or remediation is currently available from the vendor. Since the vulnerability requires local access, restricting local user permissions and access can reduce risk. Monitor vendor advisories for updates and apply any future patches promptly. Avoid running NanoClaw in untrusted local environments until a fix is released.
