Technical Analysis

The vulnerability identified as CVE-2026-18029 in pretix-girosolution involves improper enforcement of behavioral workflow (CWE-841) in the payment integration with GiroCheckout. Specifically, the system does not correctly validate that a payment status response corresponds to the correct payment transaction. This flaw enables an attacker to replay a successful payment status response from one payment and apply it to a different payment, effectively bypassing payment controls and gaining access to multiple tickets for the price of one.

Potential Impact

An attacker exploiting this vulnerability could gain unauthorized access to multiple valid tickets by reusing a single successful payment confirmation. This undermines the integrity of the payment process and could result in financial loss and ticketing fraud for the affected service.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. No official fix or temporary workaround has been documented at this time.
