Source: CVE Database V5
Product: Create

Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-18037 describes a missing authorization vulnerability (CWE-862) in the Create WordPress plugin prior to version 2.5.4. The plugin fails to verify permissions before rendering content via a public REST API endpoint. Additionally, the endpoint's behavior includes publishing the requested content, which should remain unpublished. This allows unauthenticated attackers to access and publicly expose content that is intended to be private or unpublished.

Potential Impact

Unauthenticated attackers can access unpublished content and cause it to be published publicly, potentially exposing sensitive or private information that should not be accessible. This compromises confidentiality and content control within affected WordPress sites using the vulnerable plugin versions.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until an official fix is available, restrict access to the affected REST API route if possible or disable the plugin to prevent exploitation.
