Description

CVE-2026-18100 is a stored cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability in the MetForm plugin for Elementor on WordPress. It affects all versions up to and including 4.1.8. Technical Analysis

The MetForm – Contact Form, Survey, Quiz, & Custom Form Builder for Elementor WordPress plugin suffers from a stored cross-site scripting vulnerability due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping of the 'mf_form_id' widget setting. This flaw allows authenticated attackers with contributor-level privileges or higher to inject arbitrary JavaScript code that executes in the context of users visiting the affected pages. The attack payload bypasses Elementor's wp_kses_post filter because it contains no HTML tags and leverages MetForm's transformation of script tags into JavaScript template literals to evade detection. This vulnerability is present in all versions up to and including 4.1.8.

Potential Impact

An attacker with contributor-level access or higher can inject persistent malicious scripts into pages via the vulnerable widget setting. This can lead to partial compromise of user confidentiality and integrity (e.g., theft of cookies or session tokens) but does not affect availability. The CVSS score of 6.4 reflects a medium severity with network attack vector, low attack complexity, and no user interaction required.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until an official fix is available, restrict contributor-level access and higher to trusted users only. Monitor for updates from the vendor and apply patches promptly once released.
