Since the vulnerability requires an authenticated attacker and involves invitation token misuse, organizations should monitor invitation link sharing and restrict access to invitation tokens. Check Mattermost vendor advisories for updates or patches addressing this issue and apply them once available.

Description

Mattermost versions 11.7.0, 11.8.0, 11.9.0, and 11.10.0 contain an authorization flaw where the invited recipient's email address is not properly validated when redeeming team and guest invitation tokens. This allows an authenticated attacker to join a team or access private channels by using a forwarded or leaked invitation link.
