Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-18612 is a critical command injection vulnerability in GL-iNet GL-MT3000 devices running firmware versions 4.4.0 through 4.4.5. The issue resides in the plugins.remove_package and plugins.install_package functions within the /cgi-bin/glc file of the plugins.so Native Plugin component. This flaw allows unauthenticated remote attackers to inject and execute arbitrary commands on the affected device. The vendor has acknowledged the vulnerability, and proof-of-concept exploit code is publicly available. No official fix or patch has been published at the time of this report.

Potential Impact

Successful exploitation of this vulnerability enables remote attackers to execute arbitrary commands on the affected device without authentication, potentially leading to full system compromise. Given the critical CVSS score of 9.3, the impact includes complete control over the device, which may affect network security and device integrity.

Mitigation Recommendations

No official patch or remediation has been announced by the vendor yet. Users should monitor the vendor's advisories for updates and apply any official fixes once available. Until then, restricting remote access to the affected functions and employing network-level protections may reduce exposure. Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance.
