Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-18658 is a critical SQL injection vulnerability in IBM Operational Decision Manager affecting multiple versions including 8.11.0.1 through 9.6.0.0. The flaw allows unauthenticated attackers to inject and execute arbitrary SQL statements. Exploitation can lead to leveraging database functionality to write a web shell into the application web root directory, resulting in remote code execution on the affected system.

Potential Impact

Successful exploitation enables an unauthenticated attacker to execute arbitrary SQL commands with high privileges, leading to full compromise of the affected system through remote code execution. This can result in complete loss of confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the application and underlying infrastructure.

Mitigation Recommendations

No patch or official fix information is provided in the available data. Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the IBM vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until a fix is available, restrict access to the affected application and monitor for suspicious activity related to SQL injection attempts.
