A patch is available that corrects the handling of partial RX URB allocations in the can: etas_es58x driver. Users should apply the official Linux kernel updates that include this fix. After updating, a system reboot is required to apply the changes. No additional mitigation actions are specified or required.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's can: etas_es58x driver allowed partial RX URB allocations to be treated as fatal errors, causing resource leaks. The issue was that when es58x_alloc_rx_urbs() partially allocated URBs but failed to allocate the full requested number, it returned an error causing es58x_open() to skip cleanup, leaking URBs. The driver is designed to handle partial allocations gracefully, so the fix modifies the function to return success if at least one URB is allocated, preventing the leak.
