AI-suggested
A patch is available and should be applied to affected Linux kernel versions. The vendor advisory from Ubuntu confirms fixes in updated kernel packages. Users should update their systems and reboot to apply the fixes. Due to ABI changes, recompilation and reinstallation of third-party kernel modules may be necessary.
Description
A buffer overflow vulnerability in the Linux kernel's ALSA scarlett2 driver was fixed. The flaw is due to a logic error in endianness conversion in scarlett2_usb_get_config() that can cause buffer overflows when processing configuration data with count > 1. The issue arises because the code incorrectly checks total buffer size instead of element size, leading to out-of-bounds memory access. This vulnerability has been addressed in affected Linux kernel versions.
