Description
A potential buffer overflow vulnerability in the Linux kernel's i2c-hid driver (specifically in i2c_hid_get_report()) has been fixed. The flaw involved reading more data than the buffer could safely hold, which could be triggered via the hidraw interface. Access to hidraw devices requires root privileges, limiting the impact. The vulnerability is addressed by truncating the read length to the buffer size minus a fixed overhead. The issue affects Linux kernel version 5.18 and has been patched in subsequent commits.
