Description

CVE-2026-23230 is a high-severity race condition vulnerability in the Linux kernel's SMB client implementation. It arises from multiple flags stored in the same bitfield byte being updated concurrently, causing read-modify-write (RMW) races that can restore stale flag values. The issue is fixed by splitting these flags into separate boolean fields to avoid shared-byte RMW races.
