A fix is available and has been committed in multiple Linux kernel versions as indicated by the fixed commit hashes. Users should update their Linux kernel to a version that includes these fixes. There is no indication that any additional mitigation is required beyond applying the official patch.
Description
CVE-2026-23434 is a high-severity vulnerability in the Linux kernel's raw NAND driver (mtd: rawnand). The issue involves a race condition where nand_lock() and nand_unlock() call chip-specific lock_area/unlock_area operations without holding the NAND device lock. This can cause conflicts on NAND controllers that implement SET_FEATURES via multiple low-level PIO commands, potentially leading to command pending conflicts during concurrent NAND operations such as background erase or write. The vulnerability has been fixed by adding serialization around these lock/unlock operations using nand_get_device() and nand_release_device().
