A patch is available that fixes this issue by replacing the PM variant calls with non-PM variants in the aqc111_suspend function. Users should apply the official Linux kernel updates that include this fix. The Ubuntu security advisory USN-8567-1 confirms the availability of this fix. No additional mitigation actions are required beyond applying the update.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's net: usb: aqc111 driver caused a deadlock during suspend callbacks by performing power management (PM) operations improperly. The issue arises when aqc111_suspend calls the PM variant of its write_cmd routine, leading to a task hang and blocking the networking stack. This has been fixed by replacing the problematic calls with non-PM variants.
