What to do

AI-suggested

Given the absence of an official patch at the time of disclosure, organizations should implement the following mitigations: 1) Immediately restrict remote management interfaces of the Tenda W20E router to trusted internal networks or disable them entirely to prevent external exploitation. 2) Employ network segmentation to isolate vulnerable devices from critical infrastructure and sensitive data. 3) Monitor network traffic for anomalous patterns indicative of exploitation attempts, such as unusual packets targeting the 'picName' parameter or unexpected firmware behavior. 4) Use intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS) with updated signatures to detect potential buffer overflow exploitation attempts. 5) Regularly back up router configurations and maintain an inventory of affected devices to prioritize patch deployment once available. 6) Engage with the vendor for timely updates and apply firmware patches as soon as they are released. 7) Educate users about the risks and encourage disabling unnecessary services on the router to reduce attack surface.

Description

An issue was discovered in Tenda W20E V4.0br_V15.11.0.6. Attackers may exploit the vulnerability by controlling the value of `picName`. When this value is used in `sprintf` without validating variable sizes, it could lead to a buffer overflow vulnerability.
