What to do
AI-suggested
- Immediately restrict access to the router's management interface by disabling remote administration features if enabled.
- Implement network-level firewall rules to block unauthorized inbound traffic to the router's management ports (e.g., HTTP/HTTPS, Telnet, SSH).
- Monitor network traffic for unusual patterns or attempts to exploit buffer overflow conditions targeting the router.
- Segment the network to isolate vulnerable devices from critical infrastructure and sensitive data.
- Regularly check for firmware updates from Tenda and apply patches as soon as they become available.
- Consider replacing affected devices with models from vendors with a strong security track record if patches are delayed.
- Employ intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS) with signatures or heuristics capable of detecting exploitation attempts targeting this vulnerability.
- Educate network administrators about the risks and signs of exploitation to enable rapid response.
Description
An issue was discovered in Tenda W20E V4.0br_V15.11.0.6. Failure to validate the sizes of `gstup` and `gstdwn` before concatenating them into `gstruleQos` may lead to buffer overflow.
