Published: 07/20/2026 (07/20/2026, 14:53:13 UTC)
Source: CVE Database V5
Vendor/Project: Scille
Product: parsec-cloud

Description

Parsec is a cloud-based application for simple and cryptographically secure file sharing. The application does not sanitize the workspace name, creating a vulnerability if that workspace name is a UNC path. When creating mountpoint in the windows filesystem to mount the workspace of an organization, the application does not sanitize the workspace name. The cause issue if the workspace name evaluate to a UNC path since it's allowed for the name to containt `\` char. If the UNC path is invalid (or the targeted resource is not available) the application become unresponsive otherwise the system will interact with the mounted UNC path allowing the attacker to retrieve to [`NTLM`] hash.

Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-25039 is a path traversal vulnerability in Scille's parsec-cloud application caused by lack of sanitization of workspace names that may contain Windows UNC share paths. When mounting a workspace on Windows, if the workspace name evaluates to a UNC path (due to allowed backslash characters), the application either becomes unresponsive if the UNC path is invalid or interacts with the UNC resource. This interaction can allow an attacker to retrieve NTLM hashes. The vulnerability has a CVSS 3.1 base score of 8.8, indicating high impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability. No official remediation or patch information is provided, and no known exploits in the wild are reported.

Potential Impact

Successful exploitation can lead to system unresponsiveness or unauthorized retrieval of NTLM hashes via interaction with malicious UNC paths. This compromises confidentiality and integrity of authentication credentials and affects application availability.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until an official fix is available, avoid using workspace names that contain UNC paths or backslash characters. Monitor vendor communications for updates on patches or mitigations.
