Description
A heap-based out-of-bounds write vulnerability exists in Wazuh versions from 1.0.0 up to but not including 4.14.4. The flaw occurs in the GetAlertData function where a NULL byte is written one byte before the start of a buffer allocated by strdup due to unsigned integer underflow and pointer arithmetic wrapping. This corrupts heap metadata and can be exploited by a malicious actor with high privileges on a compromised agent to cause denial of service or heap corruption by injecting a crafted alert into the alerts log file monitored by wazuh-logcollector. The issue is fixed in version 4.14.4.
