Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-26446 describes a denial of service vulnerability in Stomper 5e2741e. When a broker sends data to a client whose TCP connection was closed by the peer, the server process receives a SIGPIPE signal and immediately terminates. This results in a denial of service condition. The vulnerability can be triggered by any unauthenticated client by closing the socket at specific points during communication, causing the server to crash unexpectedly.

Potential Impact

The vulnerability allows unauthenticated clients to cause the server process to terminate unexpectedly, resulting in denial of service. There is no impact on confidentiality or integrity reported. The CVSS score of 7.5 reflects a high severity due to the ease of exploitation and the resulting service disruption.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. No official fix or temporary mitigation is currently documented. Until a patch is available, monitoring for unexpected server terminations and avoiding exposure of the vulnerable service to untrusted clients may reduce risk.
