What to do

AI-suggested

In the absence of an official fix, consider restricting or authenticating client connections to prevent unauthorized or malformed CONNECT and SEND frame sequences that trigger the vulnerability.

Description

Stomper 5e2741e contains a critical use-after-free vulnerability triggered when multiple CONNECT frames are sent on the same TCP connection, followed by SEND frames referencing previously subscribed destinations. This can cause the broker process to crash due to dereferencing freed memory. The protocol lacks default authentication or restrictions to prevent this sequence.
