Published: 05/12/2026 (05/12/2026, 08:21:13 UTC)
Source: CVE Database V5
Vendor/Project: Siemens
Product: SIMATIC HMI MTP1000 Unified Comfort Panel

Description

Affected devices do not properly restrict access to the web browser via the Control Panel when no corresponding security mechanisms are in place. This could allow an unauthenticated attacker to gain unauthorized access to the web browser, potentially enabling the discovery of backdoors, performing unauthorized actions, or exploiting misconfigurations that may lead to further system compromise.

Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-27662 affects Siemens SIMATIC HMI MTP1000 Unified Comfort Panel devices by failing to restrict access to the embedded web browser through the Control Panel when security mechanisms are not in place. This insecure default initialization allows unauthenticated local attackers to access the web browser interface, which may enable discovery of backdoors, unauthorized actions, or exploitation of misconfigurations. The vulnerability is identified as CWE-1188 and has a CVSS 3.1 base score of 7.7, reflecting high impact on integrity and availability with low attack complexity and no required privileges or user interaction. No patch or official remediation level has been published, and no known exploits are reported in the wild.

Potential Impact

An unauthenticated attacker with local access to the device can gain unauthorized access to the web browser interface. This access could lead to discovery of backdoors, unauthorized actions, or exploitation of misconfigurations, potentially resulting in further compromise of the affected system's integrity and availability. Confidentiality impact is not indicated. The vulnerability does not require privileges or user interaction and has low attack complexity, increasing the risk if the device is accessible.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the Siemens vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until an official fix is available, ensure that appropriate security mechanisms are configured on the device to restrict access to the web browser interface. Limit physical and network access to the Control Panel to trusted personnel only to reduce risk of exploitation.
