What to do

AI-suggested

To mitigate CVE-2026-30287, organizations should first verify if they are using Deep Thought Industries ACE Scanner PDF Scanner version 1.4.5 and immediately restrict or disable the file import functionality if feasible. Monitor and control file import sources to ensure only trusted files are processed. Implement strict input validation and sanitization on file names and paths to prevent arbitrary overwrite attempts. Employ application whitelisting and sandboxing to limit the impact of potential code execution. Network segmentation can reduce exposure if the scanner is part of a larger infrastructure. Regularly audit and monitor file system changes and application logs for suspicious activity related to file imports. Engage with the vendor for patches or updates addressing this vulnerability and apply them promptly once available. As a temporary measure, consider deploying intrusion detection systems with custom rules to detect anomalous file overwrite behavior. Educate users about the risks of importing untrusted files and enforce least privilege principles for the scanner application.

Description

An arbitrary file overwrite vulnerability in Deep Thought Industries ACE Scanner PDF Scanner v1.4.5 allows attackers to overwrite critical internal files via the file import process, leading to arbitrary code execution or information exposure.
