What to do
AI-suggested
Until an official patch is released, organizations should implement several targeted mitigations: 1) Restrict file import functionality to trusted sources only, limiting the risk of malicious file inputs. 2) Employ application whitelisting to prevent unauthorized code execution stemming from overwritten files. 3) Use endpoint detection and response (EDR) solutions to monitor for suspicious file modifications or anomalous behavior related to the PDF reader. 4) Enforce strict access controls and least privilege principles on systems running the vulnerable application to reduce the risk of local exploitation. 5) Educate users about the risks of importing files from untrusted sources and monitor local user activities. 6) Consider isolating or sandboxing the PDF reader application to contain potential exploitation. 7) Maintain regular backups of critical files to enable recovery if overwrites occur. Once a patch is available, prioritize immediate deployment to remediate the vulnerability.
