AI-suggested

To mitigate this vulnerability, organizations should immediately review and update the source code of the affected Actions.php file to ensure proper sanitization of the 'username' parameter. Specifically, developers should implement parameterized queries or prepared statements to prevent SQL Injection. Input validation should be enforced to reject or sanitize unexpected characters in user inputs. Database user permissions should be minimized to restrict the impact of any potential injection. Additionally, organizations should monitor logs for suspicious activity related to the save_user action and enforce strong authentication controls to reduce the risk of credential compromise. If possible, apply web application firewalls (WAFs) with rules designed to detect and block SQL Injection attempts. Regular security assessments and code reviews should be conducted to identify and remediate similar vulnerabilities. Finally, organizations should stay alert for official patches or updates from SourceCodester and apply them promptly once available.

Description

A SQL Injection vulnerability exists in SourceCodester Online Food Ordering System v1.0 in the Actions.php file (specifically the save_user action). The application fails to properly sanitize user input supplied to the "username" parameter. This allows an authenticated attacker to inject malicious SQL commands.
