AI-suggested
An official patch is available and included in Linux kernel versions 6.8.0 and later (specific patched versions include 6.8.0-1064.72 and above). Users should update their Linux kernel to a fixed version and reboot the system to apply the changes. Due to an ABI change in the kernel update, recompilation and reinstallation of any third-party kernel modules are required. Follow the vendor's update instructions carefully to ensure full remediation.
Description
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: spi: fix use-after-free on controller registration failure Make sure to deregister from driver core also in the unlikely event that per-cpu statistics allocation fails during controller registration to avoid use-after-free (of driver resources) and unclocked register accesses.
