A fix is available and has been applied in multiple Linux kernel commits referenced by their hashes. Users and administrators should update their Linux kernel to a version that includes these fixes. Since this is a kernel vulnerability, patching the kernel is the recommended remediation.
Description
CVE-2026-31407 is a high-severity vulnerability in the Linux kernel's netfilter conntrack component. It involves missing netlink policy validations leading to out-of-bounds memory access in SCTP and ctnetlink code paths. The flaw allows user-supplied values to be assigned without proper range checking, causing slab-out-of-bounds reads. This issue has been fixed in several Linux kernel commits.
