Description

CVE-2026-31455 is a vulnerability in the Linux kernel's XFS filesystem unmount process. The issue arises because background reclaim and inode garbage collection (inodegc) continue running while the Active Item List (AIL) is being pushed during unmount, which can cause races and corruption. The flaw is fixed by reordering the unmount sequence to stop inodegc and cancel background reclaim before pushing the AIL.
