Description

CVE-2026-31466 is a race condition vulnerability in the Linux kernel's memory management subsystem on arm64 servers. It occurs due to a missing memory barrier in the softleaf_to_folio() function, which can cause a folio to be modified without holding the required folio lock. This issue triggers a kernel warning and could lead to unstable memory operations during transparent huge page splitting and page table entry updates. The vulnerability has been fixed in Linux kernel version 4.5 and later commits.
