A patch is available and should be applied to affected Linux kernel versions. The vendor advisory from Ubuntu confirms that this issue has been fixed in updated kernel packages. Users should update their Linux kernel to the fixed versions as provided by their distribution vendors.

Description

A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's erofs filesystem was resolved by adding GFP_NOIO in the bio completion path. The issue involved the bio completion path in process context calling decompression directly, which could lead to vm_map_ram() invoking memory swapping I/O and causing submit_bio_wait to deadlock. This deadlock occurs due to insufficient memory and improper memory allocation flags in certain scenarios. The vulnerability affects specific Linux kernel versions and has a medium severity with a CVSS score of 7.5.
