Description
CVE-2026-31479 is a high-severity vulnerability in the Linux kernel's drm/xe driver related to improper tracking of remap prev/next pointers during 3D workload operations. The flaw can cause invalid or overlapping virtual memory areas (vma) during re-insertion in the unwind path, potentially leading to kernel warnings and a corrupted virtual memory state. The issue arises from skipping the rebind of certain vma ends and incorrectly handling unmap range shrinkage, which the fix addresses by properly maintaining prev/next tracking and undoing unmap shrinkage on unwind.
