AI-suggested

A fix is available in Linux kernel version 2.6.33 and related commits. Systems running affected versions should upgrade to these fixed versions to resolve the issue. Until patched, the issue can be temporarily mitigated by dropping the dentry cache to allow deletion of affected subvolumes. No other vendor advisory or cloud service remediation applies.

Description

A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's Btrfs filesystem causes broken dentries for subvolumes due to improper setting of the BTRFS_ROOT_ORPHAN_CLEANUP flag during subvolume creation. This leads to errors when deleting or creating files/subvolumes over the affected subvolume, potentially causing filesystem aborts. The issue arises from a race condition involving orphan cleanup and delayed inode reference handling.
