AI-suggested
This vulnerability has been fixed in the Linux kernel. Users should update to a fixed kernel version containing the patches identified by the commit hashes provided. Since this is a kernel-level issue, applying the official kernel update is the recommended remediation. No additional mitigation is required once the patch is applied.
Description
CVE-2026-31548 is a high-severity vulnerability in the Linux kernel's wifi cfg80211 subsystem. It involves a race condition where asynchronous work to abort a PMSR request may run after the network interface has been torn down, causing the driver's abort callback to operate on a non-existent interface. This can lead to undefined behavior and potential kernel crashes. The issue is fixed by synchronously canceling the pending work before interface teardown proceeds.
