A patch is available and should be applied to affected Linux kernel versions. The fix drops the skb and accounts for length errors when the fragment limit is reached, preventing the overflow. Users should update their Linux kernel to the fixed versions as provided by their distribution's security advisories, such as Ubuntu Security Notice USN-8488-1.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's USB gadget Phonet function (pn_rx_complete) allows a malicious USB host to overflow the skb_shared_info->frags[] array by sending a continuous sequence of full-page OUT transfers. This can cause memory corruption on the heap. The issue has been fixed by dropping the skb and accounting for a length error when the fragment limit is reached.
