AI-suggested
A vendor-provided patch is available and should be applied to affected Linux kernel versions. The Ubuntu security advisory USN-8488-1 confirms the fix. Systems running affected versions should upgrade to patched kernel releases to remediate this vulnerability. No additional mitigations are required beyond applying the official fix.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel crypto CCP driver could lead to kernel buffer overflow and data leakage to userspace when the firmware command to retrieve the PDH certificate fails due to an invalid length. This issue was fixed by preventing copying of the PDH certificate blobs if the firmware command fails. The flaw could cause a slab-out-of-bounds error and potentially leak sensitive kernel data. Multiple specific Linux kernel versions are affected. A patch is available from the vendor.
