What to do

AI-suggested

A fix has been implemented to add proper length checks on the firmware buffer in the Linux kernel comedi me_daq driver. Users should update their Linux kernel to a version that includes this fix once available. Until then, avoid loading untrusted firmware files to mitigate risk.

Description

A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's comedi me_daq driver could allow a firmware buffer overrun due to insufficient length checks on the firmware data stream. The function me2600_xilinx_download() reads a length value from the firmware file and then reads data without verifying the firmware is long enough, potentially causing a buffer overrun. This issue has been fixed by adding a length check to ensure the firmware contains the expected data before processing.
