AI-suggested
A fix for this vulnerability has been implemented in the Linux kernel by calling usbtmc_draw_down() during usbtmc_release to flush anchored URBs. Users and administrators should apply the official Linux kernel updates that include this fix. Since this is a kernel-level issue, updating to a patched kernel version is the recommended remediation.
Description
CVE-2026-31758 is a high-severity use-after-free vulnerability in the Linux kernel's USB Test and Measurement Class (usbtmc) driver. It occurs because pending anchored USB Request Blocks (URBs) are not properly flushed or killed during the usbtmc_release operation, potentially leading to memory corruption or system instability. The issue is addressed by ensuring that usbtmc_draw_down() is called to complete anchored URBs safely.
