CVE-2026-3295: CWE-79 Improper Neutralization of Input During Web Page Generation ('Cross-site Scripting') in IBM Cloud Pak System
Description
IBM Cloud Pak System 2.3.6.0, and 2.3.6.1 is vulnerable to cross site scripting. The web app user‑supplied input is not properly sanitized or HTML‑encoded before being stored and rendered. An authenticated attacker could exploit this vulnerability by entering specially crafted payloads containing malicious JavaScript which are saved within the app and later executed automatically when user views affected pages, resulting in Stored Cross‑Site Scripting (Stored XSS).

Technical Analysis
CVE-2026-3295 is a stored cross-site scripting vulnerability in IBM Cloud Pak System versions 2.3.6.0 and 2.3.6.1. The web application fails to properly neutralize user input before storing and rendering it, allowing an authenticated attacker to inject malicious JavaScript code. This code executes automatically when other users access the affected pages, potentially leading to confidentiality, integrity, and availability impacts as indicated by the CVSS vector (AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:L).
Potential Impact
Successful exploitation allows an authenticated attacker to execute arbitrary JavaScript in the context of other users' browsers when they view the affected pages. This can lead to partial confidentiality loss, integrity compromise, and availability impact within the affected application session or environment.
Mitigation Recommendations
No explicit patch or remediation information is provided in the vendor advisory or input data. Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the IBM vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until a fix is available, restrict authenticated user privileges to limit exposure and monitor for suspicious activity related to stored XSS attempts.
