Technical Analysis

This vulnerability (CWE-288) affects WAPT Server before version 2.6.1.17813, specifically version 2.6.0.16767. An attacker can remotely bypass authentication controls by exploiting an alternate path or channel via a specially crafted packet. This results in unauthorized access through retrieval of a valid session token for the targeted account. The CVSS 4.0 base score is 10.0, reflecting network attack vector, no required privileges or user interaction, and high impact on confidentiality, integrity, availability, and security requirements.

Potential Impact

Successful exploitation allows a remote attacker with no privileges or user interaction to bypass authentication and obtain a valid session token for any targeted account. This compromises account confidentiality and integrity, potentially leading to full account takeover and unauthorized actions within the WAPT Server environment.

Mitigation Recommendations

No official patch or remediation has been published yet. Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until a fix is available, restrict network access to the WAPT Server and monitor for suspicious activity related to authentication bypass attempts.
