Technical Analysis

Chamilo LMS before version 1.11.38 contains a vulnerability where Twig template files (.tpl) located in /main/template/default/ are accessible without authentication via HTTP GET requests. This exposure allows attackers to view sensitive internal details such as application logic, variable names, AJAX endpoints, and admin panel layout. It has a CVSS 3.1 score of 5.3, indicating a medium severity information disclosure risk. The vulnerability is resolved in Chamilo LMS version 1.11.38.

Potential Impact

The vulnerability allows unauthenticated attackers to access sensitive template files that reveal internal application logic and configuration details. This information disclosure could aid attackers in understanding the system architecture and potentially facilitate further attacks. However, it does not directly impact integrity or availability.

Mitigation Recommendations

Upgrade Chamilo LMS to version 1.11.38 or later, where this vulnerability is fixed. Since the vendor has released a fixed version, applying this official update is the recommended remediation. Patch status is confirmed by the vendor advisory indicating the fix in 1.11.38.
