Technical Analysis

This vulnerability exists in the Group Replication Plugin component of Oracle MySQL Server. It is exploitable by an attacker with low privileges who can access the server over the network using multiple protocols. Successful exploitation results in the ability to cause the MySQL Server to hang or crash repeatedly, leading to a complete denial of service. The CVSS 3.1 base score is 6.5, reflecting a medium severity with an emphasis on availability impact. Oracle's April 2026 Critical Patch Update includes patches for affected MySQL Server versions, addressing this vulnerability among others.

Potential Impact

The vulnerability allows unauthorized denial of service attacks against MySQL Server, causing it to hang or crash repeatedly. This disrupts availability of the database service but does not compromise confidentiality or integrity of data. There are no reports of active exploitation in the wild. The impact is limited to service disruption.

Mitigation Recommendations

Oracle has released patches for this vulnerability as part of the April 2026 Critical Patch Update. Users should apply the April 2026 CPU promptly to affected MySQL Server versions to remediate this issue.
