Technical Analysis

Adobe Substance3D - Designer versions 15.1.0 and earlier contain an out-of-bounds write vulnerability (CWE-787) that can lead to arbitrary code execution in the context of the current user. Successful exploitation depends on a victim opening a malicious file, enabling an attacker to potentially execute code with user-level privileges. The CVSS 3.1 vector indicates the attack requires local access with low complexity, no privileges, and user interaction, impacting confidentiality, integrity, and availability.

Potential Impact

If exploited, this vulnerability allows arbitrary code execution with the current user's privileges, potentially compromising confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the affected system. However, exploitation requires user interaction by opening a malicious file. There are no known exploits in the wild at this time.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until an official fix is available, users should exercise caution when opening files from untrusted sources to avoid triggering this vulnerability.
