CVE-2026-35088: CWE-326 Inadequate Encryption Strength in Slican IPx
Description
Slican telephone exchanges use symmetric encryption for TCP/IP communication. Secret key is hardcoded in multiple binary files. An attacker who has access to these files can decrypt the communication. This issue was fixed in IPx series version 6.62.0100. The issue STILL EXISTS in End-Of-Life telephone exchanges: - CCT-1668 (CCT1CPU) - MAC-6400 - CXS-0424 These products were discontinued in 2011 and 2012 and and will not receive updates. These products require a hardware update in order to receive a software update. The vendor recommends that users of these devices contact the their service department directly to determine the options for upgrading.

Technical Analysis
CVE-2026-35088 describes an inadequate encryption strength vulnerability (CWE-326) in Slican IPx telephone exchanges. The symmetric encryption used for TCP/IP communication relies on a secret key hardcoded in multiple binary files. An attacker with access to these files can decrypt communications. The issue is resolved in IPx series version 6.62.0100. However, discontinued products CCT-1668, MAC-6400, and CXS-0424 remain vulnerable and unsupported, requiring hardware upgrades for any software update.
Potential Impact
An attacker who obtains access to the binary files containing the hardcoded secret key can decrypt TCP/IP communications on affected Slican IPx telephone exchanges. This compromises the confidentiality of communications. The vulnerability is rated high severity with a CVSS 4.0 score of 8.2, indicating significant risk if exploited. End-of-life devices remain vulnerable without patch options.
Mitigation Recommendations
A fixed version (6.62.0100) of the IPx series is available and should be applied to remediate this vulnerability. For end-of-life devices (CCT-1668, MAC-6400, CXS-0424) that cannot be updated due to hardware limitations, users are advised to contact the vendor's service department to explore upgrade options. No other mitigations are specified.
