What to do

AI-suggested

Until a fix is available, network-level controls such as limiting access to the RTSP service to trusted hosts may reduce exposure. Monitoring for unusual authentication failure patterns could help detect exploitation attempts.

Description

The MERCURY IP camera model MIPC252W version 1.0.5 Build 230306 has a vulnerability in its RTSP service related to handling failed Digest authentication attempts. An unauthenticated attacker can repeatedly send RTSP requests with invalid authentication parameters, causing the RTSP service to enter a persistent authentication failure state. This results in a denial of service by preventing legitimate clients from authenticating to the RTSP service. The vulnerability has a CVSS score of 6.2, indicating medium severity, and does not impact confidentiality or integrity but causes availability disruption.
