What to do
AI-suggested
Users should monitor the vendor's advisory for updates. In the meantime, applying input validation and output encoding on the Referer header before including it in responses can mitigate the risk.
Description
CuteNews version 2.1.2 contains a Cross Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability in the index.php file. The vulnerability arises because the Referer HTTP header value is reflected into the HTML response without proper escaping during POST requests. This flaw can lead to partial compromise of confidentiality, integrity, and availability under certain conditions.
