Until a fix is available, restrict access to the local network to trusted users only and consider disabling UPnP functionality on the router if possible to prevent exploitation of the AddPortMapping feature.
Description
The Mercusys AC12G (EU) V1 router with firmware AC12G(EU)_V1_200909 contains a vulnerability in its UPnP AddPortMapping functionality. This flaw allows an unauthenticated attacker on the local network to forward external ports to the router's own administrative interface by specifying the router's internal IP (192.168.1.1) or localhost (127.0.0.1) as the InternalClient. This effectively exposes the admin panel to the internet via a single crafted SOAP request. The vulnerability has a high severity rating with a CVSS score of 8.
